- Rex Cherryman (1928) – Stanwyck was romantically linked to her married co-star, Rex Cherryman in 1928. It wasn’t sure how the two ended the relationship but Cherryman became ill during the early 1928 and his doctor advised him to take a sea voyage to Paris where they had arranged to meet. At that time, he died of septic poisoning at the age of 31.
- Frank Fay (1928-1935) – She married her Burlesque co-star Frank Fay on August 26, 1928. With him, she had one adopted son named Dion. Stanwyck had an abortion at the age of 15 which resulted in complications, making her unable to have children. The couple got divorced on December 30, 1935. After the divorce, she won the custody of her son whom she had raised with a strict authoritarian hand and demanding expectations. Her son died in 2006.

- Robert Taylor (1936-1950) – She became romantically involved with her co-star, Robert Taylor in 1936. They started living together and their marriage was arranged in 1939 with the help of Taylor’s studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Taylor and Stanwyck mutually decided to end their marriage in 1950. In 1969, following Taylor’s death, Stanwyck was greatly affected and took a long hiatus from film and television work.
